ב-1978 חבר דייוויד בואי לתזמורת הפילהרמונית של פילדלפיה בפרויקט ייחודי ושונה מכל מה שעשה עד אז – קריינות ליצירה הקלאסית האלמותית "פטר והזאב" מאת סרגיי פרוקופייב. באלבום זה בואי מגלם את המספר, ומוביל את המאזינים דרך הסיפור בעזרת קולו המהפנט והייחודי. זוהי חוויה מוזיקלית קסומה, בה כל כלי תזמורת מגלם דמות אחרת בסיפור.
